Butler Memorial Hospital adds new bronchoscopy system
Butler Memorial Hospital has added a new weapon to its medical arsenal. The hospital announced Tuesday that it has begun using the MONARCH bronchoscopy system from Johnson & Johnson MedTech to assist in diagnosing lung cancer and other lung problems.
Bronchoscopy is a minimally-invasive procedure which allows physicians to peer directly into a patient’s airways and make diagnoses, using a thin, flexible tube which is operated by a controller.
Butler’s sister hospital in Latrobe adopted the MONARCH system in 2022, becoming one of the first hospitals to do so.
