Haine Elem. psychologist named adviser of the year
A Seneca Valley School District psychologist was named adviser of the year in the Pittsburgh region by Best Buddies International.
Kathleen Mahon received the honor for “her dedication to the mission of Best Buddies, her passion for promoting inclusion, and her unwavering support and leadership of Haine’s Best Buddies chapter,” according to a district news release.
Best Buddies International is an organization of volunteers that creates opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Haine Elementary School established a chapter in 2023, which promotes inclusion and friendship among students with and without intellectual and developmental disabilities through group activities.
“Her (Mahon’s) recognition as Best Buddies Advisor of the Year is a testament to the success of the program and the lasting impact she continues to make through her compassion, dedication and commitment to fostering belonging,” Cassandra Doggrell, director of student services, said.
