Mars grad selected for arts excellence scholarship
A Mars Area Class of 2024 graduate was awarded an arts excellence scholarship from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts.
Trevin Hammerbeck, a filmmaking major, received the Kenan Excellence Scholarship from the university’s arts school.
According to a Mars news release, the scholarship is a merit-based award presented to students determined to have the best potential as artist-scholars, as well as his or her ability; capacity to lead and motivate; extracurricular achievement; grade-point average; and standardized test scores.
The scholarship provides full tuition, fees, and room and board for all four years of undergraduate education.
Hammerbeck is one of five students to receive the scholarship this year.
