4 Karns City school board candidates proceed to November election
Four candidates for four available Karns City Area School District board seats will proceed to the November ballot, according to unofficial election results in Butler, Armstrong and Clarion counties.
Moving forward on the Republican ballot were Cari Harmon with 781 votes, followed by Robert Bray with 755 votes, William Weibel with 707 votes and Zach Scherer with 555 votes. Donald Scherer had 493 votes and will not move on to the Republican ticket.
In Butler County on the Republican ticket, Bray led the way with 491 votes, followed closely by Harmon with 490 votes. Weibel totaled 457 votes, Zach Scherer secured 341 votes and Donald Scherer had 304.
In Armstrong County, Harmon totaled the most votes with 210. Bray had 202 votes, Weibel secured 185 votes, Zach Scherer tallied 165 and Donald Scherer racked up 145.
In Clarion County, Harmon secured the most votes with 81, followed by Weibel with 65, Bray with 62, Zach Scherer with 49 and Donald Scherer with 44.
On the Democratic ticket, Harmon and Bray proceeded with 435 votes and 390 votes, respectively. They were the only candidates to cross file and appear on the Democratic ballot.
In Butler County, Harmon had 259 votes, while Bray totaled 241.
In Armstrong County, Harmon had 63 votes, Bray secured 54.
In Clarion County, Harmon tallied 113 votes, while Bray recorded 95.
The school district serves families in portions of Butler, Armstrong and Clarion counties. It comprises the boroughs of Chicora, East Brady, Fairview, Karns City, Petrolia and Bruin; along with the townships of Parker, Fairview, Donegal, Perry, Sugarcreek, Brady and Bradys Bend.
The winners of the November election will begin their four-year terms at the start of 2026.
