Butler County student wins state art competition for Lyme disease prevention
A student in Butler County was one of 27 recognized on Thursday, May 15, for submitting entries to the 2025 “Protect. Check. Remove.” Lyme disease Student Art Competition.
Landon Pinkerton, a Butler County student, won second place for his poster submission in the fifth and sixth grade category. His poster shows a comic strip of a man applying an insecticide, checking his body and removing a tick he finds.
More than 230 students in first through sixth grades in the state submitted posters and videos to the Department of Health in March 2025. The winning artwork will be on display in the Pennsylvania State Capitol in the East Wing outside the Senate Fountain Area through the end of May.
Pennsylvania Department of Health hosts an online dashboard so the public can see where tick-borne diseases are prevalent, providing information on appropriate precautions while enjoying outdoor activities.
