Bernice Idella Ambrose, 94, of Annapolis, Md., formerly of Cabot, passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2025.

She was born June 25, 1930, in Brady Township, to Harry and Alice Barron. When she was a teenager, her family moved to the Cabot area, where she met and married Andrew Ambrose Jr. Together they had two children, Cathy and Dean.

Following Andrew’s passing in 1979, Bernice became a CNA at Concordia Nursing Home and, in 1987, moved to Maryland to be closer her daughter, and continued her work as a devoted caregiver. She loved traveling, gardening, reading, puzzles and spending time with her grandchildren. A lifelong animal lover, she cherished her many pets over the years.

Surviving are her daughter, Cathryn Kravitz (Frank, deceased) of Annapolis; her sister, Dorothy McBride of Butler; her daughter-in-law, Nancy Ambrose (Dean, deceased); three grandchildren, Michael Kravitz (Natalie), Andrew Ambrose and Jessica Ambrose (Mike Beck); two great-granddaughters, McKenna Ambrose and Cora Beck; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her son, Dean; her parents; three brothers, Manus, Tyler and William Barron; and two sisters, Alberta Ambrose and an infant sister.

AMBROSE — A graveside service for Bernice Idella Ambrose, who died Tuesday, May 13, 2025, will be held this summer at St. Luke Lutheran Cemetery in Cabot.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association or the Butler County Humane Society.
