Timothy Uncapher
Timothy G. Uncapher, 74, of Butler, passed away Thursday, May 15, 2025, in the comfort of his home and with his family at his side.
Born May 13, 1951, in Johnstown, he was a son of the late William and Elizabeth Brindza Uncapher.
Tim was a member of All Saints Parish, St. Andrew Roman Catholic Church.
He owned and operated Mercer Dairy Queen for the past 10 years.
Previously he was employed in Chicago as the first electronic technician for Altec Inc. He also worked as an oiler for BH&H Inc.
In addition, he worked at Lake Arthur Golf Club for 30 years.
Tim was never a stranger to work. At the age of 16, he worked at Dutch Maid Bakery in Johnstown alongside his father.
Tim, a Penn State Extension Master Gardener with an innate ability to cultivate beauty, also possessed a genuine warmth that drew people to him. Each day, he aimed to bring joy to at least three individuals with a smile. His love for nurturing life extended beyond his garden, a passion he lovingly shared with his children.
Alongside his green thumb, Tim and his wife, Marie, were entrepreneurial partners, having owned the Mercer Dairy Queen. When he wasn’t serving up sweet treats or brightening someone’s day, you could often find him honing his short game on the golf course, always striving for personal excellence.
Family was the cornerstone of Tim's world; he deeply cherished the company of his children and grandchildren. His grandson, Jacob, affectionately declared him, “Best PapPap ever!”
For 40 remarkable years, Tim and Marie were an inseparable team, navigating life's journey hand-in-hand. They shared many creative pursuits, such as crafting carved candles. They also were a team for Marriage Encounter, and they fostered the Pre-Cana program in the Butler Deanery.
Tim is survived by his beloved wife, Marie Bartony Uncapher, whom he married Jan. 20, 1973; three children, Kathleen “Kathy” Goehring and her husband, Matt, of Gibsonia, Timothy Adam Uncapher of Butler, and Scott W. Uncapher of Butler; two grandchildren, Jacob Goehring and Vivian Goehring; three siblings, Carl Uncapher and his wife, Donna, of Easton, Md., Glen Uncapher and his wife, Pam, of Federalsburg, Md., and Glenda Wachs, of Johnstown; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a nephew, Stephen Uncapher.
