Marian Strong

Marian L. Strong, 91, wife of the late Robert Asher Strong, passed away peacefully Monday, May 12, 2025, at Pottstown Hospital.

Born near Hooker, she was the daughter of the late Anthony L. Daugherty Sr. and Anna R. (Christie) Daugherty.

While growing up, Marian enjoyed roller skating with her sisters and spending time at her grandmother's farm. Her first job was at the Sun Drugstore in Butler. Living most of her adult life near Altoona, she and Bob enjoyed playing cards, fishing, doing crosswords and watching “Jeopardy!” Marian was a passionate Pittsburgh Steelers fan.

As a homemaker, she enjoyed cooking, baking a very mean macaroni and cheese, and graham cracker custard pie. She later worked as a receptionist at the Valley View Home. In retirement, Marian enjoyed life with her rescue cat, Chloe.

Surviving are her son, Joseph C. Strong, husband of Julia M. Strong; sisters, Anna R. Sweeney of Butler, Margaret “Peggy” Brainard of Warren, Ohio, Donna Weiland, wife of Ronald, of Oak Forest, Ill., and Mary Jane Furey of Fenelton; brother-in-law, Thomas Stephenson Sr.; and sister-in-law, Dorothy S. (Velin) Daugherty.

Along with her husband, Robert, she was predeceased by her son, Robert A. Strong; and her siblings, Anthony L. Daugherty Jr., Dorothy “Dot” E. Snyder, Edward F. Daugherty, Betty M. McClimans, Doris D. Stephenson and James P. Daugherty.

STRONG — Services for Marian L. Strong, who died Monday, May 12, 2025, will be private and at the convenience of the family.
