Charity run to support Evans City library returns
Runners will have an opportunity to hit the bricks this Sunday, May 18, so community members can hit the books for the future.
The Patti J. Nelson Foundation announced for the ninth year, Lace Up for the Library is set to return to the Evans City area. This event features a 5K and 1-mile run/walk, followed by a postrace celebration with awards, raffle baskets, 50/50 drawing, door prizes and lunch.
Proceeds will go toward the Evans City Public Library. In addition to traditional library services, the library offers high-speed internet, story hours, workshops, community events and a gathering space for community members.
The 5K and 1-mile events will start at 10 a.m. at 400 Old Route 68, Forward Township. Packet pickup can be done from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 17, at Evans City Public Library, or starting at 8 a.m. on Sunday at the event location.
Well-behaved, leashed dogs are welcome to join the fun. Friends and family may join the postrace celebration for a suggested $10 donation.
