Mars man charged with stalking woman in Cranberry Township
A Mars man is accused of stalking a woman who works at a pet salon in Cranberry Township.
Garrett DeGutis, 32, was charged with one misdemeanor count each of stalking and harassment following the reported incidents which occurred from February to May.
Northern Regional police said that between April 26 and May 7, DeGutis contacted a woman 130 times by text, called her 18 times, left her voicemails and requested her location twice.
Police said a woman contacted them May 9 about unsettling behavior from a from a former customer at a pet salon. The woman gave DeGutis her personal phone number after scheduling multiple appointments for pet grooming.
Police said DeGutis continually visited the pet salon the next several months without appointments scheduled to visit the woman, and he began sending her unsettling text messages and TikToks.
Police said DeGutis would also place assorted flowers and food on her vehicle in the parking lot. The woman later informed DeGutis he was no longer welcome at the pet salon and asked he stop contacting her.
The woman told police DeGutis’ conduct increased to calling her cell phone daily and leaving messages claiming the two had been in a romantic relationship for months. The woman blocked his phone number and blocked DeGutis on all of his social media accounts.
At one point when the woman was visiting a Pittsburgh tattoo parlor, DeGutis reportedly messaged the parlor’s Facebook page asking if she was there, according to police.
On May 7, police said DeGutis sent the woman a text that said he was coming to her house and was going to wait there until she talked to him. When she asked DeGutis to leave her alone, he allegedly contacted her eight more times and shared his location, police said.
DeGutis’s preliminary hearing is pending.
