SRU students show off disability sports program
Slippery Rock University students’ disability sports program on May 2 highlighted changing perspectives and inclusion with Slippery Rock Area High School students.
Students from SRU’s Disability Sports Course, who lead the interactive session with 40 high school students, showed how sports can be adapted for those with disabilities. The goal of the program was to raise awareness for people with disabilities while applying concepts from their course about adapted physical activity.
Wheelchair basketball and sitting volleyball were two main sports that were part of the high school’s weeklong inclusion campaign.
