Seven Fields council member resigns

SEVEN FIELDS — Borough council approved the resignation of one of its members during a meeting Monday, May 12.

Louis Borghi resigned after opting to forego a reelection bid ahead of the May 20 primary election.

While council is slated to have three open seats, none of them will be contested. Three Republicans, including Council President Kimberly Regan Koch, Mayor Dean Galitsis and Councilman Russell A Zangrilli, are expected to fill the vacancies.

In other business, members approved the purchase of two automated external defibrillator units for $2,627. One will be placed in the borough office, while the other will go in the public works garage.

Council also filled its roster of lifeguards for the 2025 season by approving the hiring of Savannah Inman, Philip Ladesic, Emma Ladesic and Riley Satina.

A legal advertisement regarding solicitation hours was approved. Council members are seeking to shorten the solicitation window to end at 7 p.m. rather than 9 p.m.

Additionally, council held an executive session after the meeting to discuss personnel matters and potential litigation.

Borough solicitor Megan Turnbull is reportedly still in talks with Evans City representatives over the dissolution of the Evans City-Seven Fields Regional Police Department.

Manager Tom Smith said borough officials will plan to meet with Northern Regional Police Department representatives in the coming weeks to discuss an extension of their current contract.
