High school roundup: Boden Lenyk homers in Butler baseball’s victory; Slippery Rock rallies to win in 8th
Butler baseball closed the regular season with a 6-1 win Saturday over Kiski Area.
Boden Lenyk went 2-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs scored to lead a comeback win. The Golden Tornado (11-8) trailed 1-0 after four innings and scored three runs apiece in the sixth and seventh frames. Lenyk smacked a two-run home run in the top of the seventh to wrap up the scoring. He also doubled.
Trent Best (2-for-3) scored and stole two bases. Four Tornado pitchers combined to three-hit the Cavaliers.
Slippery Rock 8, Sharon 7 (8 inn.) — The Rockets stormed back to force extra innings, then Doug Popovec hit a sacrifice fly to right field that scored Parker Dalcamo for the win in the top of the eighth.
Slippery Rock trailed 7-2 entering the seventh, but Jacob Kunsman started a long rally with a solo home run. Rockets batters drew five one-out walks and got an RBI single from Bryce Covert to draw within one, and Connor Zorn’s sac-fly knocked in Carter Jeannerat to tie things up.
Covert finished 2-for-2 with a run and RBI, and Kunsman finished 1-for-4.
Sharon 17, Slippery Rock 0 (3 inn.) — The Rockets were no-hit and fell to 3-11.
