Pittsburgh man charged with assaults at Cranberry Walmart
A Pittsburgh man was charged with simple assault after two men reported being attacked at the Cranberry Township Walmart.
Dremond Phillip King, 26, was arrested following two alleged assaults that occurred April 24.
According to a criminal complaint filed Friday, May 2, Cranberry Township Police Department responded to a call shortly after 4:30 p.m. on April 24 from a man who said King shoved him into a cooler and began yelling at him. The man said the incident was unprovoked, and he did not know King.
Before police arrived at the Walmart, a second man called police, saying someone, later identified as King, jogged from the parking lot to where the man was seated with his girlfriend waiting for an Uber. The man said King began punching him in the face. According to the complaint, the assault lasted a couple of minutes, causing mouth, hand and leg injuries. King fled in a gray 2021 Hyundai Elantra.
Police said in the complaint they reviewed video surveillance. The surveillance showed King arriving at Walmart in his car a little before 4 p.m. He went to the frozen food section and assaulted the first victim. King purchased his items, returned to his car and left around 4:10 p.m. King pulled back into Walmart around 4:30 p.m., and was seen jogging up to the second victim and his girlfriend, where King assaulted him for about three minutes. King then left again.
King has been charged with misdemeanor simple assault. He is out on bail and awaiting a preliminary hearing in front of District Judge Kevin Flaherty.
