Junior Knoch boys basketball standout Jackson Bauman and his sophomore brother, Brody, are transferring to Moon.

The family’s move is for father Alan Bauman's job, he said. Alan stepped down last month as the Knights’ coach after five seasons and is taking on a more involved role in the family’s trucking business, based on Neville Island.

Jackson, a 2024-25 Butler Eagle boys basketball all-star, averaged 17 points, five rebounds and five assists last season as Knoch reached the state tournament. He’s already reached 1,000 points for his career.

“He didn’t want to leave,” Alan said. “He’s got good relationships there, and friends. And the district’s been really good to him. But, when you have an opportunity to better yourself and your family, he understood that.”

Moon went 19-8 last season, including a loss to the Baumans and Knoch early in the campaign. The Tigers reached the PIAA Class 5A tournament.

“This wasn’t easy. There was a lot of tears shed,” Alan said. “There was a lot of conversations, but at the end of the day we feel we have to do what’s best for our family.”
