Dump truck crash delays traffic along I-79 in Thursday morning

A tri-axle dump truck rolled over Thursday morning, May 1, along Interstate 79 South near the Evans City exit in Jackson Township, according to Butler County Emergency Services dispatch reports.

Crews found one man entrapped in the overturned truck following the crash, which was reported around 7:26 a.m. near mile marker 86, Harmony Area Fire District posted on Facebook. A second truck crashed into the guardrail further ahead; and a passenger vehicle also was involved.

The man did not sustain serious injuries, the post said.

Cranberry Township fire police and the state Department of Transportation were called to assist with traffic control before state police took over the scene.

Responding crews included Evans City Area Volunteer Fire Department, Harmony EMS and the UPMC Passavant Cranberry ALS Unit.
