May 3 comedy event supports Community Partnership
After playing for audiences across America to various levels of reception, comedian Johnny Lee Dam is happy to put on a fundraiser for a Butler audience.
Dam, of Butler, said the upcoming Comedy Supports Community show, taking place at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 3, at American Legion Post 778, 150 Legion Memorial Lane, Butler Township, should be a fun show for the comedians and the audience alike.
“This is where people want to be entertained,” Dam said. “You go to LA, there are so many options, nobody is impressed by anything. You come out here and they just want to take the edge off a crappy week.”
Dam will host the show — a fundraiser for Community Parternship and its initiatives — spotlighting featured comedian “Wolfie” and headliner Katrina Brown.
According to Dam, the show will be “PG-13,” but the humor he and his fellow comics will provide can be funny to pretty much any audience. Dam said Brown, a touring comic, should be a great headliner for the show.
“The headliner, Katrina Brown, she has been touring for a while and she is a force to be reckoned with,” Dam said. “She's hilarious, she is not a mild-mannered woman.”
Dam added that as host, he will provide information about Community Partnership in a humorous way. His own comedy is aimed at regular people who go to work, have families and maybe a little bit of a tangled past, he said.
“My humor is based on life, a dad with daughters, being married several times, having a lot of tattoos,” Dam said. “Hall shows are my passion. Those are the best audiences.”
Tickets to Comedy Supports Community are $25 in advance and $30 at the door. For advance tickets, visit yourcapinfo.org/news-events.
