75 years of giving back and supporting each other — Intermediate League inspires us
The Intermediate League of Butler celebrated a milestone anniversary last week, commemorating 75 years of supporting issues important to women and children.
It’s an amazing testament to the women who have kept the club going all of these years — especially when so many other similar organizations have fallen away throughout the same time period.
The Intermediate League doesn’t only champion charities and causes important to women and children in Butler, it also offers an important support network for its membership. Women who have been part of the organization for a long time have gained friendships, confidence, a sense of commitment to community and service to others.
The group has had the fortune of maintaining a strong membership over the years when many other similar service organizations and social clubs have seen their numbers dwindle. The Intermediate League of Butler is clearly doing something right — it’s one of the largest General Federation of Women’s Clubs in the state.
Anytime women work together for a common cause, good things happen. When women can forge a community for themselves through service to others, it’s even better.
These days, it’s hard for any organization or club to attract new members let alone keep the attention of its current members. Groups that had huge followings as recently as the 1990s have seen their numbers dip. In some ways, it seems like we’ve moved away from being a culture of joiners and have forged more independent lives in general.
We gain so much we combine our efforts and energy — maybe recognizing the benefits the longevity of the Intermediate League of Butler has brought to its members and our community can inspire us all to get involved in something that brings us together.
