Butler Township

BUTLER TWP — With warmer weather on the way, township commissioners are moving forward with bids on road projects and a roof replacement.

The projects commissioners reviewed included their 2025 road resurfacing project, 2025 seal coat project and an installer for the public works building roof replacement. At the regular meeting on Monday, April 21, the bids on road projects were opened and a roof replacement bid was accepted.

Commissioners received three bids for the resurfacing project, two for the seal coat project and four for the roof replacement. All bids for the two road projects were received by April 7, while the roof replacement bid was received by earlier Monday.

The bids on the resurfacing project ranged from around $779,000 to $1,157,000, while the bids on the seal coat project were around $74,000 and $108,000. The bids on the road projects were tabled by the board for further review.

As for the roof replacement project, commissioners received bids ranging from around $312,000 to $369,000. They voted unanimously to accept the lowest bid, $312,499, from Pennsylvania Roofing Systems.

Township manager Tom Knights said the project is expected to begin in September and take roughly 60 days. The current roof is about 25 years old, according to the board.

The next Butler Township Board of Commissioners meeting is set for 6:30 p.m. on Monday, May 5.
