William Green
William R. “Uncle Bill” Green, 88, formerly of Butler, passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2025, while residing at Magnolia Place in Saxonburg.
He was born Aug. 1, 1936 in Butler, and was a son of the late Edward J. Green and Evelyn M. (Kramer) Green.
He was a retired bricklayer, working for Etzel Masonry for 50 years. Also, he was the caretaker for 21 years at the Riverstone Farm in Foxburg, Pa.
He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish, St. Mary of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church in Herman, the RC Mens Club, was a gold card member of the Herman Volunteer Fire Department, member of the Unionville Firehall where he was an ambulance driver, was a lifetime member of the Elks Club and also a member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed fixing up old cars and even ran a few races at Lernerville when he was young.
He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps.
He is survived by a sister, Pearl Green; brother-in-law, Chris Lovric; sister-in-law, Pat Lovric; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce (Lovric) Green, whom he married April 20, 1963, she passed away Jan. 15, 2024; also three brothers, two sisters and one brother-in-law.
GREEN — A Mass of Christian burial for William R. “Uncle Bill” Green, who died Tuesday, March 4, 2025, will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church in Herman.
Military Honors will follow Mass at the Church.
Inurnment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Butler.
Arrangements are under the direction of GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler.
