Support rights, equality and empowerment for women

As we approach International Women's Day on Saturday, March 8, I am filled with profound pride and purpose. This day is dedicated to honoring achievements and contributions of women in all spheres of life. It is a day to reflect on progress made, to call for further advancements in gender equality, and to celebrate the strength and resilience of women everywhere.

Soroptimist International of the Americas is dedicated to improving lives of women and girls through programs leading to social and economic empowerment. Our organization is part of a global volunteer movement that works to support women in achieving their dreams and reaching their potential.

This year, as we celebrate, we also recognize vital work being done by Soroptimist members in our community and around the world. From providing educational grants to mentoring young girls, we are making a tangible difference in the lives of women and girls.

The theme for International Women's Day, “For ALL women and girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment,” resonates deeply with our mission. Education is a powerful tool for change, and by providing women and girls with access to education and opportunities, we are helping to break the cycle of poverty and create a brighter future.

I encourage everyone to join us in celebrating International Women's Day and to support the ongoing efforts of organizations like Soroptimist. Together, we can continue to advocate for gender equality, empower women and girls, and build a world where every woman can achieve her dreams.

Marianne L. Hill, president, Soroptimist International of Butler County
