Police: Woman hits man with a hatchet

State police charged a Butler woman after she allegedly woke up her ex-boyfriend by hitting him with a hatchet.

Lisa Marie Blake, 42, was charged with felony aggravated assault and misdemeanor simple assault following a Feb. 21 incident at a Franklin Township home.

Police said they received a call from a woman at the residence who said everyone there was dead and would not provide additional information. Police arrived and spoke to a man who said he was woken up in his bedroom by being struck in the upper left arm with a hatchet, according to the affidavit.

Police said the man removed the hatchet from Blake’s possession after sustaining a minor laceration and recognized her as his ex-girlfriend, according to the affidavit. Blake fled the scene before officers arrived but left her purse and phone.

Blake previously filed a Protection From Abuse order against the man for her and three juveniles in Butler County Court of Common Pleas. According to the order, Blake made statements in November and December 2023 that the man, who was her boyfriend at the time, physically abused and suffocated her to the point of being admitted to Butler Memorial Hospital, broke into her home, stole from her and threatened her children, according to the order.

Blake was represented by attorney Lori Doerr when filing the PFA. The last action on the PFA occurred Jan. 14, according to court records.

Blake’s preliminary hearing has not yet been scheduled.
