Dorothy Brooks, 94, of Saxonburg, passed away Saturday, Jan. 18, 2025, at Quality Life Services — Apollo.

Born Aug. 24, 1930, in Forty Fort, Pa., she was the daughter of Frank Butz and Mildred Whiteside.

Dorothy worked as a registered nurse for Allegheny General Hospital, retiring in 1987. She then went on to work at the Saxonburg Area Library as an aide, retiring in 2010. She was a member of Saxonburg Area Women’s Club and Friends of the Library. She enjoyed reading, Sudoku, dining out, going to the Meadows and playing cards.

Surviving are her son, Gregory (Laurie) Brooks of Pittsburgh; her stepson, John Brooks of Axton, Va.; three stepdaughters, Frankie (Kent) Fuller of Fort Atkinson, Wis., Rona Goupil of Gonic, N.H. and Marty Franz of Marshall, Texas; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, John Wylie; her second husband, Albert Brooks; sister, LeeAnn Howells; and her nephew, Scott Howells.
