Gary Sasse
Gary L. Sasse, 77, of Sarver, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 22, 2024.
He was born in West Winfield, Pa., on July 13, 1947, to the late Paul and Kathryn (Savage) Sasse.
Gary graduated from Knoch High School in 1965 and then honorably served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He started a business, The Spirit, with the late John Sassone. After Spirit closed, Gary became a shoe repairman apprentice. This led him to open his own shoe repair shop called Z & R Shoe Repair, where he worked for 15 years. Gary then worked at International Staple for 17 years until retirement.
He was known for being a loving person, kind, intelligent, hardworking and a great cook. Gary enjoyed fishing, collecting bottles, walking trails, hanging out with friends and leather working. Most of all, he loved cooking his spaghetti and apple pies.
He was the father of Ellen Marie Sasse; and grandfather of Haley Jade Anderson. He also is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his sisters, Marie Burrows, Mary Sims, Peggy Crouch and Carol Tosi; and his brother, Allen “Deter” Sasse.
