Carl Huffman
Carl Albert Huffman, 95, passed away peacefully at UPMC Williamsport on Sunday, Oct. 13, 2024.
Carl was born on July 21, 1929, in Etna, to the late Ray and Olive (Elder) Huffman. Carl graduated from Evans City High School in 1948 and then went on to serve as a corporal in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Carl then studied photography and ran Huffman’s Studio for over 50 years, first in Evans City and then in Renfrew. He was a past president of the Triangle Photographers Association and had won local and national awards for his photography.
Carl was married to Jeanne (Hohman) on April 30, 1966, and is survived by his three children, Joy DePaul of Burgettstown, Mark Huffman (Rebecca) of Montoursville and David Huffman of Cleveland, Ohio. Carl was the beloved grandfather of Jocelynn DePaul and Noah Huffman; and stepgrandfather to Andrew and Liliana Ware.
Carl was an avid golfer and was a founding member of the Tri-Boro Golf League in Butler. When he wasn’t golfing, he loved watching Pitt and Purdue basketball and could frequently be seen at local Butler High School basketball and football games cheering on the home team. Carl also enjoyed watching the Steelers and the Pirates. He was a member of the Hillcrest Baptist Church.
His loving heart and generous spirit were evident to anyone who was blessed to cross paths with this incredibly sweet man who was given the ironic nickname of “Killer.”
Carl was preceded in death by his sister, Helen (Huffman) Farrow.
