Betty Sawron
Betty Sawron, 99, of Butler, passed away on Sunday, July 14, 2024.
She was born in Templeton, Pa., on June 1, 1925, to the late Walter and Violet (McIntyre) Schall.
Betty left her home at 14 to be a nanny, and then worked as a waitress in the White Tower in New Kensington, where she waited on up-and-coming entertainers such as Nat King Cole. She wanted to be a pilot during the war, but her eyes prevented her from flying. She later got a job as an inspector of windshields on war planes. Betty also had various caregiver jobs, but the job she cared for the most was being a mother. She was known for being caring and wonderful to anyone she met.
Betty was the beloved wife of the late Joseph Sawron; mother of Diane (Dewayne) Filges and Joseph Sawron; grandmother of Bethany; and great-grandmother of Avielle and Isaiah. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Rudolph Spino; her sister-in-law, Katherine Sheppeck; and numerous nieces and nephews.
