Rhonda Rodgers-Ace
Rhonda J. Rodgers-Ace, 57, of Butler, passed away on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Rhonda leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughter, Karissa (Zack) Hill; her son, Chase (Laura) Rodgers; her son, Aiden C.R. Ace; and her grandchildren, Ace and Rosalee Hill, and Liliana and Evelyn Rodgers.
Rhonda’s superpower was making you feel special by being you. She was a friend to everyone. She often quoted, “build a bigger table, not a higher fence.” She was a warm woman with a big smile and a great sense of humor. Her proudest accomplishment in life was raising her children. Watching her children raise their babies was what she called the “good stuff.” She loved her family and was especially close with her nieces and nephews; she was so excited to see them chase their dreams and watch their families grow.
For 32 years, Rhonda was an incredible leader; she led by example. She had high expectations, but she loved her employees like family. For many, she was their first boss and a friend for life. For the last six years, she found her calling as a paraprofessional, teaching and caring for special needs students at Butler Intermediate High School. She truly loved those kids and all her friends at the school. When Rhonda wasn’t spending time with her family, working or watching her boys (the Pirates), she was at her “happy place” in North Myrtle Beach, where she would spend her mornings watching the sunrise and her days in the sand.
Born June 17, 1967, in Butler, she was the daughter, and favorite child, of the late Ronald and Rosalee (Oesterling) Michel. In addition to her mother, Rhonda leaves behind her brothers, Robert Jerome Michel (Susan) and Randy Michel (Lori); and her sister, Renee Allen (Jeff), she thoughtfully considered passing on her favorite child status but in her final days committed to keeping it posthumously. She also left behind her special friends, Bethann Kuntz and the neighbor girls; the Rodgers boys and their families; the Ace family; a guy she “kinda liked,” Jon Tirk; and many more.
In addition to her father, Rhonda was preceded in death by her two husbands, Ronald R. Rodgers, the father of her oldest two children and her first love, and Michael D. Ace, the father of her youngest child, her best friend and love of her life.
“Take the time to enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.” — Robert Brault
