Norma Corrine (Schantz) Petanovich went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 31, 2024.

Norma was born in Harmony on Nov. 17, 1931, and was the daughter to the late Norman Schantz and Dolly Heberling Schantz.

She graduated from Zelienople High School in 1949 and Pittsburgh Beauty School. She was a longtime beautician, as they were called in her day. Norma never had an unkind word to say about anyone. She was kind, generous and never met a stranger. She had a love for roosters and chickens, having quite a collection. Her family loved to tease her by asking if she had enough of them.

She married Edward J. Petanovich on Oct. 27, 1953, six months after they met on a blind date. They were married for 47 years until his death on Nov. 29, 2000.

She will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by her children, John, Fred and Beth; and daughter-in-law, JoAnn. She adored her grandchildren, Sarah, Krista, Jill, Eric and Lori; step-grandchildren, Sheri and Curt (deceased); great-grandchildren, Ava, Elena, Julia, Mia, Cameron, Jayden, Gavin, Tyson, Fiona, Brooks and Beau; step-great-grandchildren, Kendra, Amber, Haley and Caitlin; nieces, Nancy and Linda; and nephew, John.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Ruth and Sarah (Sally); brother, Lester; and daughter-in-law, Barb.

Norma's family wishes to thank the caring staff at Concordia for their loving and gracious care toward Norma, especially in her final days.

PETANOVICH — Friends and family of Norma Corrine (Schantz) Petanovich, who died Friday, May 31, 2024, will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at FOX FUNERAL HOME with a memorial service following at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Norma's honor to the Harmony Museum, 218 Mercer St., Harmony, PA 16037.
