Frederich “Fred” H. White, 88, of Zelienople, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Friday, May 31, 2024.

Born on May 8, 1936, in Westview, Pa., he was the son of the late William Frederich White and Greta Faye Goldinger White.

Fred was a member of Park United Presbyterian Church for 55 years, serving as an elder and volunteering for the church’s flea market during Horse Trading Days. He was a lifetime member of the Harmony VFD, joining in 1954 at the age of 18. He served as assistant fire chief for many years before becoming the fire chief in 1975; he proudly served and worked very hard to grow the company. He was a member of the Fire Chief’s Association for numerous years and attended and taught at the fire school. The family lived and breathed Harmony VFD and volunteered at many carnivals. Fred was instrumental in starting Harmony EMS and worked as a 911 operator. Fred served on the Harmony Borough Council. Fred was employed by White Heating in North Hills and, upon retirement, worked for Paragon until he retired again. He was employed by A.J. Meyers and Sons as a school bus driver and as a motor coach driver for five years.

Proud of providing for his family, Fred built the family home in Swampoodle, Jackson Township. He and his wife, Carol, spent several winters “snow birding” in Florida after retirement. They also traveled by motorcycle and camper extensively for many years. A man of deep faith in God, Fred will be remembered for his great love for his ever-growing family and his good humor and kindness. He will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by his family and friends.

Fred leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 68 years, Carol Rice White, whom he married on June 21, 1956; his children, Garry (Patti) White, Pamela White and Todd (LuAnne) White; his grandchildren, Brandon, Nichol, Tyler, Ian, Alexander, Whitney, Austin, Macy, Joshua and Elijah; his great-grandchildren, Kaylie, Gannon, Jackson, Parker, Lucy, Dominic, Hayden, Brinley, Chip, Baylor, Charli, Madison and Wave; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by his siblings, Burton White, Dale White and Larry White.

WHITE — Friends of Frederich “Fred” H. White, who died Friday, May 31, 2024, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at BOYLAN FUNERAL HOME, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Park United Presbyterian Church, 109 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople, with Larry Meeder officiating.
