Occasional raindrops fell on the large crowd of spectators watching the Memorial Day parade on May 30, 1968, but the weather was nothing a little umbrella couldn’t stop.

Thousands of spectators attended the morning event, and hundreds marched or rode along in the parade itself.

The General Butler Vagabonds debuted their new uniforms at the parade, which earned comments from the reviewing stand near the end of the parade route, which was stationed in front of the Butler County Courthouse.
