Clement George

George

Clement George, 88, of Saxonburg, passed away at Butler Memorial Hospital on Saturday, May 18, 2024, surrounded by his family.

He was the firstborn of Clement George and Elizabeth Martin George of New Kensington on Aug. 13, 1935. His brother, James George, resides in North Carolina. His sister, Betty Davis, passed away in 2018.

Throughout the years, Clem was affectionately known as Clemmy, Chico and Clementine.

Clem graduated from New Kensington High School in 1953. He then graduated from a local vocational school, learning the trade of technical drafting. Soon thereafter, Clem was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1958 and served at Fort Bliss, Texas. Upon discharge, ALCOA scooped him up for their drafting department; then moved on to Westinghouse Electric in Cheswick, where he proudly worked with their drafting and computer-aided design team for 37 years. Clem absolutely loved his position at Westinghouse. He always spoke fondly of his duties and co-workers and kept all of his personal drafting tools.

While home on military leave back in 1959, Clem met Judy Zonarich of West Deer Township. They married in 1961 and enjoyed 63 years together. They raised two daughters, Jennifer (John) Kranik of West Deer and Pam (William) Vogel of Butler. Pam passed away in 2003. He has one granddaughter, Elizabeth Jo Kranik of Sarasota, Fla.

Clem was a gentle soul in every way, never one to gossip and always had a kind and uplifting word for everyone. He thrived living in the calm quaintness of the Saxonburg community. He was a member of Saxonburg Memorial Presbyterian Church, where he grew in his faith and love of God. For many years, Clem was an active volunteer helping with the church's outdoor chicken roasts, apple butter making, and assisting with the church's property maintenance and cemetery committees.

Clem loved his family so much, the games of golf, baseball and football, his beloved Steelers, watching car racing, attending car shows, hunting, talking to his neighbors, attending Wednesday breakfasts with his friends and loving his sweet cat, Boots.

Clemmy will be sorely missed by his wife, daughter, granddaughter, all his extended family and many wonderful friends. As he entered Heaven, surely Jesus was there with open arms saying “Well done!”
