Memorial service planned for late World War II veteran

Sower’s Chapel is hosting a community Memorial Day service Sunday morning, May 26, honoring the late Sgt. Maj. Charles “Bud” Early, who died Feb. 23 at the age of 102.

Early served in General George Patton’s 3rd Army, 80th Infantry Division, in World War II. The service, which will be the 12th annual Memorial Day ceremony by Sower’s Chapel, will begin at 11 a.m. Sunday at the chapel, 100 Iron Bridge Road, Sarver. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Early and his family will be honored for his military service with a flag ceremony and the slow salute performed by the Vandergrift Veterans, with Elijah Grochalski at the bugle, Michelle Hardt playing the bagpipes and David Alden as featured soloist.
