Mandera development receives final approval

ADAMS TWP — After months of back-and-forth between Adams Township’s supervisors and planning commission, supervisors granted final major subdivision approval for the Mandera residential development during their meeting Monday night, May 13.

Mandera, a development proposed by Victor-Wetzel Associates, would feature nine single-family housing lots to just off Callery Road.

The project was first brought before the township in July 2022, and the proposal had bounced back and forth between the township’s planning commission and supervisors several times since then until it was finally granted approval on Monday night.

The approval was expected at the last supervisors meeting on April 22, but it was tabled once more after residents who live near the proposed site raised concerns about how the construction would impact their property.

In the two weeks since then, all but one of the five supervisors was convinced the proposal was in line with township ordinances.

“We received word from the township engineer that everything meets current ordinances,” said Supervisor David Goodworth.

The vote for approval on Monday night was taken by roll call and was not unanimous, with Supervisor Ronald Nacey making the sole “no” vote.

“In lieu of what I still read here and the things that are going on, I don’t feel that there’s been a resolution here, so I vote no,” Nacey said.
