The regal metal bald eagle, whose 13-foot wingspan graced the top of the Wings of Peace Veteran’s Memorial in Penn Township, will rest once again on its lofty perch.

The Penn Township Veterans Association announced recently the eagle, which was falling apart after 38 years of watching over the patriotic parcel at the intersection of Airport and Three Degree roads, has been repaired by none other than renowned Butler metal artist Bill Secunda.

The association will hoist the refurbished eagle into place in a ceremony at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 10. The veterans association changed the time of the event from Saturday to Friday.

Donors, residents, veterans, those who missed the eagle and anyone else who would like to see the majestic metal sculpture lifted back into place are welcome to attend.
