Ronald L. “Ron” Vensel, 76, of Butler, passed away on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at Allegheny General Hospital.

Born Jan. 24, 1948, in Butler, he was the son of the late John L. and the late Florence I. (Kaltenbach) Vensel.

Ron was a 1966 graduate of Butler High School and was employed by Nationwide Insurance Co. as a property manager and maintenance until his retirement in 2008. Ron was a member of Community Alliance Church, Butler Aircraft Modelers Association (B.A.M.S.) and American Legion Post 778 in Lyndora. He enjoyed spending time outdoors hunting, fishing and camping.

Ron was a big man, not just in stature, but in spirit as well. Above all else, he loved his family and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchild.

He is survived by his wife, Linda M. (Bowser) Vensel, whom he married Nov. 23, 1985; two sons, Tim (Rena) Vensel and Sean Steinhiser, both of Butler; two daughters, Sally (David) Wood of the U.K. and Michelle (Dexter) Keibler of Butler; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren with two more on the way; three brothers, Ben Vensel, John (Deb) Vensel and David (Margie) Vensel; several nieces and nephews; and his first wife, Bonnie Vensel.

In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in death by an infant son, Jon Vensel; and his sister-in-law, Karen Vensel.

VENSEL — The family of Ronald L. “Ron” Vensel, who died Wednesday, May 1, 2024, will receive friends from 3 to 4 p.m. Monday at Community Alliance Church, 800 Mercer Road, Butler. A celebration of life service will immediately follow in the sanctuary at 4 p.m. with Pastor Joe Flores officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Ron's honor to the Community Alliance Deacon Fund, 800 Mercer Road, Butler, PA 16001.

Arrangements have been entrusted to THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St., Butler.
