A true golf workshop

Players can work on all phases of the game at All About Golf

FRANKLIN TWP — All About Golf is aptly named.

The 9-hole executive golf course located off North Road, just west of Butler, offers heated golf bays,. a putting green, chipping area, driving range and a pro shop featuring all of the name brands.

“We do club repair and club fitting here,” facility owner Ken Macadaeg said. “We do re-gripping of clubs as well. All of that is very popular here.”

The pro shop offers golf apparel, clubs, bags, tees, etc.

“Anything a golfer needs, it’s here,” Macadaeg said.

The eight heated bays outside are open year-round and during inclement weather, so golfers can use the driving range at any time. All About Golf is open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. every day.

Each bay features Top Tracer, a golf simulator that tracks one’s swing and distance per club. Top Tracer also provides the opportunity to simulate playing Pebble Beach, Oakmont and other legendary golf courses.

Fee to use Top Tracer is $6 for 30 minutes, $10 for an hour.

“It’s a useful tool for golfers to determine what club to use on the course,” Macadaeg said.

The golf course itself features par-3 and par-4 holes. Macadaeg admits that the top-level golfer “isn’t likely to play here, but the course does provide another way for golfers to work on their game.

“We get quite a bit of use out of it,” he said.

Tim Nypaver is the club pro at All About Golf and offers group or individual lesson packages. The facility also hosts a PGA Junior League each Sunday through the second Sunday in June.

The league features age divisions of 13-under and 17-under.

The First Tee Program, based out of Pittsburgh, teaches youths golf etiquette and life lessons at the same time. All About Golf offers that program as well.

“We have a First Tee group here now and that session runs for six weeks, into June,” Nypaver said. “We have 15 kids in the 11-under class, nine in 12-over. The age range generally runs from 7 to 17.

“There will also be a summer and fall First Tee program at All About Golf. Anyone interested may call the facility or Nypaver at 412-608-5319. Those interested in taking golf lessons from Nypaver may reach him at that number as well.

“We offer a number of packages,” he said. “The first session is an evaluation. My lessons are very individualized and designed to suit that particular golfer’s needs and skill set. I accept everyone from the veteran golfer who wants to improve his game to beginners who are just learning the game.”

Macadaeg welcomes people who simply want to learn how to play golf.

“This is a good place to learn the game and refine skills,” he said.
