SRU softball clinches PSAC berth
Alexsa Hurd collected three hits, including a solo home run in the bottom of the first inning, to lead Slippery Rock University’s softball team to a 4-3 victory over visiting Seton Hill on Friday.
Hurd also worked two scoreless innings of relief in the circle to earn the pitching win.
The victory assured The Rock of a spot in the upcoming PSAC tournament.
The game was tied 3-3 when Jeanna Sukey scored the winning run thanks to a Griffins’ error in the bottom of the seventh.
In the second game of the doubleheader, Julia Montie, Emma Kennedy and Julia Nutter each homered in SRU’s 6-5 win.
Hurd again came on in relief and pitched 1.1 for the win.
The Rock (24-24, 17-12) visits Edinboro for a doubleheader Saturday.
