Each of the five Butler churches where the needy receive a free meal Monday through Friday evenings will continue in their important mission of feeding the hungry, thanks to a soiree on Saturday.

The Community Meal Ministry Gala and Art Show were held Saturday and Sunday, respectively, as fundraisers for the nightly meals prepared by volunteers at each church.

Those who attended the gala on Saturday noshed on appetizers from local restaurants and cookies donated by the congregation members of the five churches that provide the meals.

Three local artists, Mark Hall, Joe Pugliese and Paul Means, discussed the pieces they brought to the gala and art show with those in attendance at the gala.

The artwork created by the three local men was available for sale at various price points.

New at the gala this year was the addition of two local student artists, whose work was exhibited but not sold.

The art show on Sunday offered several gift baskets to be raffled. Admission was free for those who wanted to bid on the gift baskets or peruse the art on Sunday.

All proceeds from both the gala and art show will benefit the Community Meal Ministry.
