SR baseball rallies for win

Jacob Kunsman delivered a two-run walk-off single in the seventh inning Wednesday night, capping a furious rally that gave Slippery Rock a 9-8 baseball win over Sharon.

The Rockets (4-1) erased a 7-0 deficit in the game. They scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh. Isaac McCandless was the winning pitcher with four innings of relief.

Slippery Rock hosts Grove City at 11 a.m. Saturday at Slippery Rock University’s Critchfield Park.

Track and Field

Knoch’s boys and girls remained unbeaten after defeating Leechburg and Apollo Ridge at home on Wednesday. Ava Santora ran the program’s fourth-fastest time in the girls 3,200 meters and Carter French ran the ninth fastest boys time in the 3,200.

The Knights wrap up section competition at Burrell on Tuesday afternoon.

Union/A-C Valley split a meet with Johnsonburg, the boys winning, 99-42, the girls losing, 79-49.

Hayden Smith won the 110-meter hurdles, long jump and high jump for the Falcon Knight boys. Aidan Fox won the 200 meters and triple jump. On the girls side, Emma Paschiatore won the 100 and 200.

Boys Tennis

Mason Hoffman won at No. 2 singles for Knoch, but the Knights dropped a 4-1 decision to Highlands.

Lucas Crawford and Ethan Palmer scored singles wins for Mars in a 4-1 triumph over Seneca Valley. Michael deVyver won at No. 1 singles for the Raiders (3-6, 1-4).

Boys Volleyball

Mason McCall had 25 assists and Peter Zulick contributed nine blocks as Butler defeated Fox Chapel, 3-0. Match scores were 31-29, 25-16, 25-21.

Maddox McCalll had 19 kills and Coleton Welter 12 kills for the Golden Tornado (4-3, 3-2), who host Norwin on Monday night.

Mars 3, Montour 0 — The Planets won the match by scores of 25-8, 25-19, 25-15. No other details were provided.
