Man accused of sexual assault waives hearing; bond reduced

CHICORA — A Boyers man accused of sexually assaulting a girl over the course of three years waived his preliminary hearing and saw his bond reduced Tuesday, April 9.

Jerred M. Carr, 34, was charged March 14 in connection to the case, after police alleged he assaulted the girl from the time she was 10 years old. The girl was 13 when the assaults were reported to police in July, documents show.

Carr was placed in Butler County Prison in lieu of $100,000 on March 26, documents show. On Tuesday, he appeared with public defender Ryan Helsel before District Judge Lewis Stoughton and waived his right to the hearing.

Stoughton lowered Carr’s bond to $20,000 on the condition he have no contact with the girl and no unsupervised contact with other minors should he be released.

Carr was charged with felonies rape, statutory sexual assault, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, aggravated indecent assault, indecent assault of a person less than 13 years of age, corruption of minors and child endangerment.

The girl disclosed the abuse began in 2020 at a home in Marion Township, and later continued at a home in Concord Township, according to police.
