Joan C. Douglass, 85, of Butler, passed away on Sunday evening, April 7, 2024, at her home.

She was born April 20, 1938, in Butler, a daughter of the late Gardiner McClelland and Esther (Beneigh) McClelland.

Joan was a Butler High School graduate, Class of 1956, and was a homemaker and mother. She was a member of All Saints Parish, St. Conrad Roman Catholic Church, and had been a former member of the St. Fidelis Choir. She enjoyed playing the piano, playing cards, had volunteered at Butler Memorial Hospital and was always available for lunch.

She is survived by her husband, Edwin J. Douglass, whom she married May 7, 1960; her children, Lisa (Glenn) Pizor, Lori (Steve) Goldston and Darryl (Marsha) Douglass; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Jack and Dick McClelland.

DOUGLASS — A Mass of Christian burial for Joan C. Douglass, who died Sunday, April 7, 2024, will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Conrad Roman Catholic Church, 125 Buttercup Road, Meridian.

Arrangements are by GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler.

As Joan was an avid reader, her family requests that donations be sent to the Butler Area Public Library, 218 N. McKean St., Butler, PA 16001.
