A book release party for “The Misadventures of Minkus the Mage,” a children’s book written by Lindsey Gifford, of Center Township, will be held from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 14, at Double Image Styling Salon, 140 Bon Aire Plaza, Butler.

Gifford will be on hand to sign copies of the hardcover book, which will be available to purchase at a discounted price of $25.

The book’s audience is children in first through fifth grades.

Face painting, refreshments and a reading of the 36-page, fantasy genre book featuring Minkus the frog and Strange, the seven-legged spider will be included in the release party.

Gifford made a 4-foot version of Minkus for the event so children and parents can have their picture taken with the book’s protagonist.

Gifford also will give away a tote bag and teddy bear wearing a Minkus shirt at the event.
