Cornibe

Dana E. Cornibe, 54, of Butler, passed away with his family at his side after a brief illness from cancer, on Thursday, April 4, 2024.

He was born Feb. 19, 1970, in Butler, to Dennis and Brenda (Slupe) Cornibe.

Dana was a 1988 graduate of Butler High School and a 1994 graduate of the United States Merchant Marine Academy. He was in the naval reserves from 1994 until 2005, when he was honorably discharged. He spent 1994 to 1995 with the Great Lakes Interlake Steamship Co. He then worked for the Grand Victoria (1995 to 1996), Elgin, Ill., and the Northern Belle (1996 to 1998), Windsor, Ontario, before the Grand Victoria (1998 to 2005), Rising Sun, Ind. Dana then landed a job in 2005 with Union Railroad, Pittsburgh, until his death.

Dana was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan. He enjoyed a good day on the stream trout fishing, sitting on beach, a round of golf, or a New York Times crossword puzzle and had a passion for music which he passed on to his kids. While a quiet guy, Dana was funny and smart; when he spoke, everyone listened. He always knew the right thing to say, which made him a good manager, a wonderful husband and the best father. Dana will forever be missed and never forgotten.

Dana leaves behind his beloved wife of 25 years, Melissa (Suhadolnik) Cornibe, whom he married on July 18, 1998. They lived briefly in Milan, Ind., where they had their first son, Nate, before moving to Butler, and expanding their family with twins, Maura and Lane. Also, to cherish his memory, he leaves behind parents, Dennis and Brenda (Slupe) Cornibe; sister, Jill (Neil) Ashbaugh; brother, Benjamin (Melissa) Cornibe; in-laws, Raymond and Gerry Suhadolnik; brothers-in-law, Raymond (Lori) Suhadolnik and Kris (Shelly) Suhadolnik; along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Dana was preceded in death by his grandparents, Louis and Mary Louise Cornibe, and Robert and Phyllis Slupe.

CORNIBE — A memorial Mass for Dana E. Cornibe, who died Thursday, April 4, 2024, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at All Saints Parish, St. Conrad Catholic Church, 125 Buttercup Road, Butler.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to BOYLAN FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTER OF CONNOQUENESSING TOWNSHIP, 856 Evans City Road, Renfrew.
