Thomas William “Tom” Flatt, 58, of Butler, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Sunday, March 31, 2024.

Born Dec. 22, 1965, in Butler, he was the son of M. Jean (Groves) Flatt and the late William E. Flatt.

Tom was a 1984 graduate of Butler High School and spent the past 20 years as a manager for Dollar General. He attended First Baptist Church in Butler whenever time permitted. Tom was an extremely hard worker and was always willing to take care of his family and help anyone he could with whatever they needed. He was a tinkerer by nature and enjoyed woodworking, working on cars and other various projects in his basement. Tom's family and his faith were most important to him, and he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandsons.

He is survived by his mother, M. Jean Flatt; his son, Richard (Joelle) Flatt; his daughter, Amanda Knoch; two grandsons, Wyatt Knoch and Henry Flatt; Teresa Flatt; three brothers; two sisters and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by two brothers.

FLATT — Family and friends of Thomas William “Tom” Flatt, who died Sunday, March 31, 2024, will be received from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday at THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St., Butler. A funeral service will immediately follow at noon, with Pastor David Maitland of First Baptist Church of Butler officiating.

Tom will be laid to rest privately in Greenlawn Burial Estates.
