Rock baseball splits twinbill
SLIPPERY ROCK — Michael Kitko tossed 5.2 innings of scoreless baseball in the second game Saturday, enabling Slippery Rock University to spit a doubleheader with Mercyhurst at Critchfield Park.
Mercyhurst (7-12, 4-4) won the first game, 8-1. SRU (13-6, 5-3) won the nightcap, 5-3.
Kitko made his first collegiate start for The Rock. He is 2-0 on the season with a 1.08 earned run average over 16.2 innings pitched this year. Cam Panyko Morris hit his third home run of the season for SRU’s lone run in the first game.
Koby Bubash had a triple, single and three RBI in the nightcap. He leads The Rock with 14 RBI on the campaign.
The Rock hosts Charleston (W.Va.) for a nine-inning game at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Critchfield Park.
