Marilyn Kummer
Marilyn C. (Soisson) Kummer, 79, of Butler, formerly of Hookstown, Pa., passed away suddenly Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at home.
Born on June 11, 1944, in East Liverpool, Ohio, Marilyn was the daughter of the late Carl O. Soisson Jr. and late Jean (Crooks) Soisson.
She graduated from Southside Beaver High School in 1962 and later went on to Edinboro State College, graduating in 1966 with a degree in elementary education. She taught at Portersville Elementary School and later was a substitute teacher at Moniteau School District. She was a devoted homemaker.
Marilyn is survived by her husband of 54 years, James R. Kummer; one daughter, Luann (Thomas) Hasychak of Saegertown; one son, Wesley Kummer of Butler; and two grandsons, Thomas and Andrew Hasychak, both of Saegertown. She is also survived by two sisters, Evelyn Shaffer and Emily (Jason) Allison, and one brother, Ted (Florance) Soisson, all of Hookstown; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by one brother.
KUMMER — Family and friends of Marilyn C. (Soisson) Kummer, who died Tuesday, March 26, 2024, will be received for visitation from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at WILLIAM F. YOUNG FUNERAL HOME, 132 Main St., West Sunbury. A funeral service will be held following visitation at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Mark S. Davis, HR, of the West Sunbury United Presbyterian Church, officiating.
Burial will be in Mt. Chestnut Cemetery.
