Officials at Keystone Safari in Liberty Township, Mercer County, brought a joey named Dolly to Lowrie House Assisted Living in Butler Township on Wednesday afternoon as a thank you for the residents’ participation in the safari’s animal enrichment program.

Carol Warner, director of resident programming at Lowrie House, explained that the seniors painted empty tissue boxes that were filled with food and hidden in the animals’ enclosures.

The animals had to work to find the treats, which provides mental stimulation.

During Dolly’s visit, Keystone Safari’s senior zookeeper Casey Main spoke to residents about the animal program and the safari in general.
