BRADENTON, Fla. — Josh Fleming allowed one run in the first three innings on Sunday and the Pirates went on to defeat the Tampa Bay Rays, 8-4, in Grapefruit League play.

Ke’Bryan Hayes had two hits and an RBI and the Pirates (10-13-1) got home runs from Nick Gonzales, Matt Gorski and Shawn Ross. Top pitching prospect Paul Skenes was one of a handful of players the Pirates designated for minor league assignment Sunday as well.

The Pirates travel to Clearwater to play the Phillies at 1:05 p.m. on Monday.
