American Airlines flight from DFW Airport makes emergency landing in Los Angeles

An American Airlines flight out of DFW International Airport had to make an emergency landing in Los Angeles after a reported mechanical issue on a Boeing 777 airplane.

On Wednesday night, American flight 345 landed at 8:51 p.m. Pacific Time, according to flight data tracker FlightAware . According to CBS News , the Fort Worth-based airline said the pilot reported a possible mechanical issue before landing. It’s unclear what the issue was, however, some early reports suspected a blown tire.

Major U.S. airlines all over have recently had some situations with mechanical issues on aircraft.

Just this month, a United Airlines flight aircraft ran off the taxiway into a grassy area after landing in Houston. That was only a day after another United flight had a mid-air loss of a tire on a Boeing 777.

Of course, the most notable issue on an airplane this year was January’s Boeing 737 Max 9 blowout that left a gaping hole in the side of an Alaska Airlines fuselage . Since then, major airlines like American and Southwest Airlines have called on the planemaker to “become a better company.”
