Kelly secures funding for fire departments, infrastructure

U.S. Rep. Mike Kelly, R-16th, said he has secured $15.7 million for community project funding requests in the district including about $9.3 million for county requests. He said he voted for the funding, which was included in four spending bills to fund the government through Sept. 30.

“It's so important to remember that every dollar that comes to Washington first comes out of a hardworking taxpayer's pocket. We selected these projects because they give taxpayers the greatest return on their investment,” Kelly said.

He said he secured $1.25 million for construction of a new station for the Butler Township Volunteer Fire District, $2 million for construction of a new station for the Connoquenessing Volunteer Fire Company, $375,000 for equipment for the Harrisville Volunteer Fire Company, $1.25 million to replace a water line along Route 19 in Cranberry Township, and $4.5 million to preserve the Shearer Bridge near the intersection of routes 422 and 68 in Butler Township.
